Moving day in the Darwin heat

Darwin is warm all year, and moving is hard physical work. A few simple steps keep everyone safe and protect your belongings.

Look after people

• Start early in the day while it's cooler.
• Keep plenty of cold water on hand for everyone helping.
• Take regular breaks in the shade or the air conditioning.

Look after pets

• Keep pets somewhere cool, quiet and secure, away from open doors and the truck.
• Never leave a pet in a parked car.
• Make sure they have water and shade at both houses.

Look after your belongings

• Keep medicines, candles and anything that can melt with you in an air-conditioned car.
• Don't leave electronics or photos sitting in direct sun while waiting to be loaded.
• Turn the air conditioning on at the new place early so it's cool when you arrive.
